Bam Shankar, age seventy, recalls his close association with former Jharkhand Chief Minister and JMM patriarch Shibu Soren, highlighting Soren's enduring connection to Bokaro Steel City. Shankar fondly recollects quarter No. 14 in Sector 1-C, the residence where Soren lived for years with his family.
Shibu Soren, born in Nemra village, Jharkhand, established his political base in Bokaro. He resided there with his wife Roopi, their late son Durga, sons Hemant and Basant, and daughter Anjali. Shankar remains in the quarter, emphasizing Soren's indelible contribution to Jharkhand and his relentless fight for the state's oppressed and tribal communities.
Soren, celebrated as 'Disom Guru', frequently visited Bokaro after moving to Ranchi. As news of his passing at age 81 from kidney-related issues spread, it's clear his influence and love for the people of Bokaro, who now mourn the loss of their guardian, remain profound.
