In a potentially hazardous incident, an ammonia gas leak was reported at the state-run Mahanand Dairy's cold storage facility in Goregaon, as confirmed by a local official on Thursday. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported.
The leakage was discovered around 9:15 PM on Wednesday, emanating from a gas cylinder inside the facility, which is located adjacent to the Western Express Highway. Quick action by the facility's management saw employees safely evacuated from the premises.
The fire brigade promptly addressed the situation by halting the leak and safely transferring the remaining ammonia gas to a different container, thereby averting a larger crisis.
