A landslide in Himachal Pradesh, India, has resulted in 15 fatalities, with the fate of a missing child still uncertain. The calamity struck a private bus that was caught in the mountains, and assistance from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) is ongoing to manage the tragedy as the region deals with incessant rain.
According to the Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, the tragedy saw the loss of 9 men, 4 women, and 2 children, while 2 other children sustained injuries. Visuals from the scene depict the bus as a tangled mass amidst landslide debris, with rescue teams tirelessly uncovering victims.
Continuous rainfall has been cited as the main contributing factor to this calamity. The adverse weather has not been isolated to Himachal Pradesh alone, with similar incidents recorded in West Bengal and Nepal, leading to significant casualties and destruction.
