Wan-Bissaka's Congolese Call-Up Ignites International Prospects

Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who plays right back for West Ham United, has been included in the Democratic Republic of Congo's 26-man squad for friendlies in June. This selection could pave the way for his participation in the Africa Cup of Nations and the 2026 World Cup.

Wan-Bissaka, aged 27, has a Congolese family background but previously represented England at the under-21 level. He initially received an England senior call-up in the 2019-20 season after a strong start with Manchester United but had to withdraw due to injury and has never been called up since.

The player joined West Ham last year and would need to switch his international allegiance to represent DR Congo. FIFA's latest nationality change list does not include him yet, but the Congolese team is using their friendlies in France to gear up for World Cup qualifiers, aiming for success against top rivals in Group B.
