The Uttar Pradesh Police have intensified their efforts against illegal cattle activities, registering 699 cases of cow slaughter and 1,200 cases of cattle smuggling between January 1, 2024, and August 31. Over this period, 4,988 individuals have been arrested, with 1,107 suspects surrendering in court.

In their crackdown, police have applied severe legal measures against repeat offenders. For cases involving cow slaughter, 539 individuals were charged under the Goonda Act, six under the National Security Act (NSA), while history sheets were opened for 467 persons. Additionally, properties worth Rs 9.19 crore were seized from 781 accused under Section 14(1) of the Gangster Act.

Cattle smuggling cases saw 476 individuals booked under the Gangster Act, nine under the NSA, with history sheets for 288 people. Properties worth Rs 9.97 crore were confiscated from 1,328 individuals. The police emphasized that these actions align with their ongoing strategy to dismantle illegal cattle trade operations throughout Uttar Pradesh.
