Thirteen migrant workers from Jharkhand's East Singhbhum district have safely returned home after alleged exploitation by a private employer in Gujarat. The intervention by the Jharkhand state government facilitated their journey back.
Authorities in Gujarat's Morbi district were accused of denying food and facilities to the workers and withholding their salaries. The laborers, all from Matihana panchayat in Baharagora block, expressed relief upon their safe arrival.
Efforts led by the Jharkhand labor department and local administration ensured the payment of around Rs 68,000 in outstanding wages. The situation was brought to light by Kunal Sarangi, prompting expedited action by Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
