Political leaders in India are expressing deep concerns over the detention of BSF jawan Purnam Sahu by Pakistani authorities. Congress' Pawan Khera has reached out to the U.S. President on social media, urging intervention for Sahu's release. This call for action highlights international attention on the border issue.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has also publicly shared her worries, stating that their party is actively supporting the government's stance on national security. Banerjee confirmed that Trinamool Congress representative Kalyan Banerjee is maintaining contact with Sahu's family to offer support during this challenging time.
The incident occurred on April 23, when Sahu inadvertently crossed into Pakistan from the Punjab border, a known hotspot for such misunderstandings. Despite Pakistan's absence from scheduled flag meetings aimed at resolving these issues, India continues to push for Sahu's safe return amid heightened security tensions following regional attacks.
