Senior BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari has voiced allegations against the West Bengal government, accusing it of facilitating illegal voter status for immigrants, including Rohingya Muslims and Bangladeshis, by issuing massive numbers of domicile certificates. This accusation comes in light of an unusual surge in new voter registrations across several border districts.

In a statement shared on social media, Adhikari highlighted a dramatic increase in Form-6 applications, citing that numbers have surged to 70,000 compared to the usual 20,000-25,000 in areas such as Coochbehar, Alipurduar, and others. He claimed this is part of the state government's unethical efforts to manipulate electoral rolls.

Addressing the issue, Adhikari sent a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner, urging that newly issued domicile certificates not be accepted for electoral roll revisions. This matter highlights a broader political struggle, as the BJP plans a nationwide agitation advocating for a 'Rohingya-free Bengal'.
