Kewal Dhillon, the new president of the Punjab BJP, has declared his ambition for the party to win the 2027 state elections. Appointed shortly after his vice-president role in the previous year, Dhillon aims to boost the party's prospects in a state traditionally dominated by other political forces.
In his statements, Dhillon criticized the current AAP-led administration in Punjab, alleging unfulfilled promises and a deteriorating law and order situation under their rule. He highlighted issues such as drugs and unemployment, emphasizing the BJP's potential to restore prosperity resembling Punjab's past glory.
Dhillon, who joined BJP in 2022 after a political career with Congress, promises economic growth and employment opportunities. He assured that under BJP leadership, the state would emulate the progress seen in neighboring BJP-governed Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.
Outgoing Punjab BJP chief Sunil Jakhar expressed support for Dhillon's leadership, confident in the latter's ability to strengthen the party's outreach amid changing political dynamics in the region.
