In a bold assembly marking China's 76th National Day, survivors of persecution, international rights advocates, US lawmakers, and activists converged on the US Capitol. The major conference, "Faith Under Siege: Confronting Religious Persecution and Oppression in China," cast a spotlight on the Chinese Communist Party's escalating suppression of religious communities.
The event, as reported by Phayul, featured compelling stories like that of Namkyi, a former Tibetan political prisoner. She shared her harrowing experiences from a 2015 protest where she and her sister faced arrest and brutal treatment, revealing the harsh tactics used to stifle dissent in Tibet.
Spanning a diverse set of voices, the conference hosted at the US Capitol Visitor Center, was organized by prominent advocacy groups. Bringing together 27 speakers from Uyghur, Tibetan, and other persecuted communities, it highlighted the urgent need for global action against these human rights violations.
